Big Blue Trunk

Yet another transformation for our girl's room.

She was concerned about additional storage once the overhead cupboards were gone. I suggested a blanket box for the end of her bed. Ra thought it sounded like a good idea. It will also provide additional seating (and a dumping spot for clothes).

I hunted around on eBay and found an old blue metal trunk. it was a beauty.

The only true before shot is of the trunk as the next pics I took look so different once we had cleaned it up.
cleaned and ready to paint
front
 close up of front
 close, close up of front
in all its old, scrappy goodness.
ready for the paint - Killrust. The colour looks almost identical.
until she started with rolling it on.

Good strong bright light helps to see what one is doing ... not so good for photos though.

All done

Tried to use black paint to rub over to highlight the metal work.
I probably should have done a bit more research as the enamel paint behaved very differently to the water-based ones that I had read about.
Out came the turps to remove it. The intention was to paint on and rub off leaving just a bit around the lumps and bumps to give definition.  Our girl wasn't so fond of the look so she took it all off.

I'm laughing that someone actually put up an old metal container for sale and that someone actually bought it. Oh, wait. You bought it. I still have much to learn about appreciating recycling.

LOL! Yes and it is a treasure... I was delighted to snaffle it up... one person's trash truly is another's treasure.
one thing about the trunk though... it is HUGE. that poses another challenge.

That trunk is faulty, it only has one room. any half decent trunk has at least three rooms, it's not even an big room. hmph.

I'm such a "Harry Potter" nerd XD
